Dujiangyan Panda Base and Center

Dujiangyan Panda Base is the only place in the word where giant pandas can get care as well as disease prevention and protection. At the same time, the base is also known as China Conservation and Research Center for Giant Panda Dujiangyan Base. The Dujiangyan Panda Base is in the Mountain Qingcheng Town. And it is 18 km far away from Dujiangyan while 56 km northwest of Chengdu. Dujiangyan Giant Panda Base enjoys a favorable climate and natural environment with vast bamboo forest coverage and lovely scenic surroundings. The base covers an area of about 51 Hectares (126 acres), including several areas. They are rescuing and quarantining zone, reception & education zone, disease prevention and control research zone, vegetation zone and service zone and recovering and training zone. Here, the pandas can always get lots of fresh bamboos. Because bamboo is panda’s staple food,when touring around the base, travelers can record how the cute creatures eat their food. Currently, the base own 170 giant pandas.

Famous Pandas

At the Dujiangyan Panda Base, travelers have the opportunity to meet the world-famous pandas. The reason why they are renowned is because they travel around the world. In order to strengthen the diplomatic ties with other nations, China send some giant pandas to them every year. In fact it receives a very good result since everyone loves these lovely animals.

The panda stars you can see there are unzi, Huamei, Meisheng, Taishan, Sulin, Zhenzhen, Fulong, Fuhu, and Linbing. All of them were born abroad. However, they will return to their motherland eventually.

Panda Volunteer Program

The base have the special program for international tourists. For doing a better job on keeping the pandas, the base accepts donations from travelers. Meanwhile, the tourists can get close to the pandas by this way. Namely, tourists can volunteer for a keeper for a day. They will clean the pandas’ home and feed food to them. But the volunteer need to pay for the application. Travelers need to check with the base.
